SVG Wireframe For Your Website Design | 11/12/2008 - 06:29 |
Very often, when you are negociating a new Web site for your organization or company, the Web designer will hand over a photoshop mockup of your Web site. Personally, I have a tendency to ban this practice. I prefer to receive a solid xhtml/css mockup and sees how it is handled in different devices. The community around SVG is building up a new Web site. They decided to use SVG for the wireframe mockup of their Web site. |

Do Not Steal My SVG Semantics | 11/12/2008 - 00:25 |
A few weeks ago, for designing the W3C Chairs tee, I have used a vector authoring tool, OmniGraffle. We asked me for an SVG version of the bots. Omnigraffle has an "export as SVG" feature, like many modern vector tools. I had the curiosity of looking at the source code… All my beautiful squares and circles were gone. All shapes were only defined by paths. Some shapes are rightfully defined by paths, but it should not be the case for all of them. I became curious about this issue. When usin |

So Long and Thanks for the Blit! | 10/22/2008 - 04:24 |
There have been a number of requests to be able to replace the rendering engine used for widgets and pixmaps to be either OpenGL or the Raster backends as these have much better support for more advanced graphics features, such as gradients, blending and transformations compared to, specially, the X11 painting backend. There existed some previous tricks to swap these things around. For instance, it was common to do “setViewport(new QGLWidget())” on a graphicsview it if ran slow. Similarly, on |

Spiraling calender clock Submitted by oever on Mon, 09/08/2008 - 23:31 KDE General After blogging about clocks a few times, let me post some code for a clock. Click on the image below to see it. Your browser must support SVG. This clock was inspired by an entry on kde-apps which was blogged about by Cornelius Schumacher. A lot ofthe HTML, SVG and javascript was helped by the SVG+javascript clock page by Kam-Hung Soh. The page should render ok in Firefox 3.0, Opera 9, and maybe Chrome. The wa |

Original Comic Artwork | 09/07/2008 - 22:48 |
From this point forward, I will publish all new comics and artwork on this blog to my Google Code project: http://code.google.com/p/stuffthathappens/ I plan to create all future comics using Inkscape, which uses SVG as its native format. I will add the original SVG files and the PNG bitmaps to the Google Code Subversion repository. The Creative Commons license allows anyone to download, modify, and use these comics, provided you provide “attribution” back to me. All I ask for is a link back t |
